Student answer (Band 5.5)
The way many people continuing their studies after school has rised in recent days, also the increas of courses available at universities and colleges. I largely believe that it is a positive development because of employment and career opportunities and personal development.
The main reason why it is positive is that it helps people in their career opportunities and employment. The wide range of courses and colleges makes people get higher qualifications and be more competitive in the job market as a result, they will have access to better paid jobs. For instance, somoene who studies computer science can beacome a skilled software engeneer.
The othe reason is that it helps in personal people's developpment. Continuing their education after school helps students gain knowledge and improve more critical thinking thuss, they become more independent as they know how to solve problems. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you largely support the increase in further education, and you give relevant reasons involving employment, personal development, and benefits to society. Examples such as studying computer science and graduates improving healthcare help illustrate these points. However, several ideas are asserted rather than fully explained; for instance, the link between a wider choice of courses and better-paid work could be developed with a clearer explanation. The conclusion is incomplete, ending with “as they help in economic growth and their,” so it does not properly summarise your argument. The response also contains 234 words, below the required 250. Develop each main point and finish the conclusion to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. The main ideas are generally grouped sensibly, and examples follow the points they illustrate. However, progression within sentences and between ideas is sometimes unclear. In the second body paragraph, personal development shifts to benefits for society without a clear transition, while “As they do scientific esearchs and innovation improves” makes the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. Some linking expressions, including “as a result” and “For example,” are used mechanically or without adequate punctuation. The unfinished conclusion also disrupts the overall ending. Use clearer topic sentences, separate distinct points, and connect cause and effect with accurate, varied transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “qualifications,” “job market,” “critical thinking,” “independent,” and “economic growth.” These choices show that you can express the main ideas about education and its effects. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-form errors reduce accuracy, such as “rised,” “increas,” “beacome,” “engeneer,” and “developpment.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “personal people's developpment” and “a positif impact to the society.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the general argument, but they make the writing less clear and polished. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for discussing education, employment, and social benefits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning “because” and “as,” and the main meaning is usually understandable. However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty sentences. For example, “The wide range of courses and colleges makes people get higher qualifications and be more competitive in the job market as a result, they will have access to better paid jobs” joins independent clauses without suitable punctuation. The opening sentence is also incomplete, and the final sentence stops before its structure is finished. There are problems with agreement and sentence construction in “the growth … and the rise … has a … impact.” Practise complete sentences, clause boundaries, and agreement, then proofread punctuation.
