Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a clear overall position, stating that increased higher education is positive, and give relevant reasons: improved career prospects, broader knowledge, and the possibility of starting a business. The examples of medical, engineering, and computer science studies help illustrate the employment point. However, the ideas are only partly developed. The business benefit is asserted rather than explained with a specific example, and the paragraph about expense introduces a drawback without showing how it affects your overall judgement or balancing it against the benefits. The conclusion repeats your position but the phrase about “the availability of more success” is unclear. To strengthen the response, explain each reason with a clear cause-and-effect link and address the cost concern directly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, supporting points, a paragraph on cost, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “By concluding” signal the stages of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from courses to jobs, salaries, and quality of life without clearly connecting each step. The cost paragraph is also brief and its relationship to your positive position is not made clear. Some linking words are repeated or used mechanically, particularly “Moreover.” Organise each paragraph around one main idea, then explain and exemplify it in order; use referencing and transitions to show how the points relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “career opportunities,” “professional skills,” “higher education,” and “salaries,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “contineous,” “better skill worker,” “jobs awaited,” and “the availability of more success.” Some terms, such as “many courses,” are repeated without more precise alternatives. Build a bank of accurate phrases for education, employment, and costs, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Choosing natural collocations will make your ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express reasons and consequences, but sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors. For example, “Higher education to help students to get better job” is missing a finite verb, while “students after complete their study to finding jobs” has faulty verb forms and sentence construction. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “a better job” and “Every student do not studied.” These errors recur and sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses using forms such as “because” and “which.” Check verb forms and agreement when revising.
