Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the increase in higher education and the variety of courses. However, the position is not fully developed. While you mention advantages, the essay lacks a clear, consistent stance on whether this is a positive or negative development. The ideas regarding 'family pressure' and 'colleges earning money' are relevant but remain somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, ensure you explicitly state your position in the introduction and maintain that perspective throughout, providing more depth to your arguments rather than listing points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Moreover' used twice in the same paragraph, 'Besides it'). There are also issues with referencing; for example, in the second paragraph, 'it' is used vaguely to refer to the trend of continuing education. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the conclusion does not effectively synthesise the main points, instead introducing slightly new phrasing that feels disconnected from the previous arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good knowledge', 'big reason', and 'earn money'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'thier', 'thire', and 'intrest', which are distracting. While the meaning is clear, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('colleges is also increasing', 'income is increasing'), incorrect verb forms ('it has became', 'Colleges are introduced'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the lowercase 'i' when referring to oneself. These errors are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader, although they do not completely impede communication.
