Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the topic but lacks depth and focus. While you mention that education is positive, the essay fails to directly answer the prompt's core question regarding the increase in university courses. Instead, the content drifts into general statements about the importance of education and science. The arguments are repetitive and lack specific examples or logical development. To improve, ensure you directly address the 'positive or negative' aspect of the trend mentioned in the prompt and provide clear, distinct reasons for your position rather than repeating general praise for education.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Ideas are often disconnected, and the transition between sentences is frequently abrupt. For example, the sudden shift to discussing science in the second paragraph is not relevant to the prompt. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes misused, leading to a repetitive structure. To achieve a higher band, focus on using linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words like 'important', 'good', and 'vital'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'underground wholes' (likely meaning 'holes') and 'low costly'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and societal development. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It also play', 'It teach'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at more complex structures often result in errors. For instance, 'In now a days world' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
