Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to address the prompt provided. The task asks for a discussion on the increase in people continuing their education and the range of university courses available, requiring an opinion on whether this is a positive or negative development. Instead, the essay discusses the causes and solutions for general stress in life. Because the content is entirely off-topic and does not engage with the specific subject matter of higher education, it cannot be assessed as a successful response to the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the logical progression is severely hampered by the lack of relevance to the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'in conclusion', but they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The referencing is frequently unclear, and the flow of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended argument, especially since the argument itself is unrelated to the task instructions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are numerous spelling errors (e.g., 'nowadsays', 'stressfull', 'severals', 'worride', 'profomance', 'excerise', 'shadule', 'lode') and incorrect word choices that frequently impede communication. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the student relies on basic, often misused, terminology. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning accurate spelling and expanding their range of topic-specific vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The grammatical control is weak throughout the essay. There are frequent errors in sentence structure, such as comma splices and run-on sentences. Subject-verb agreement is often incorrect (e.g., 'people life become', 'it have a severals reason'), and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read and significantly impacts the clarity of the message.
