Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by identifying the trend as a positive development. However, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack logical progression. The arguments regarding technology and job security are repetitive and lack specific, well-supported examples. The essay struggles to maintain a clear focus, and the reasoning is often circular, such as stating that education is necessary because one needs to be educated. To improve, you should focus on developing two distinct, well-explained reasons for your position, supported by concrete examples rather than general statements. The conclusion merely repeats the prompt rather than synthesizing your main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, making the flow of the argument disjointed. For instance, the transition between the importance of technology and the example of a new company is abrupt and confusing. Referencing is often unclear, and the progression of ideas is not logical. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'good', 'things', and 'knowledge'. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'technology had raise' instead of 'technology has advanced' and 'get backlogs life'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to education and professional development, and practice using synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with verb tenses ('technology had raise'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, making them difficult to follow. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the basic sentences used often contain errors in articles and prepositions. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
