Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 175 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state that the increase in education is a positive development, the arguments are underdeveloped and the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples to ensure the task is fully addressed. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic, which is a requirement for higher band scores.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hampered by the incomplete nature of the text. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'In addition to this' and 'For instance', but the transitions between ideas are sometimes mechanical or abrupt. The lack of a concluding paragraph further affects the overall structure. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly. A clear conclusion is essential to summarize your position.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally simple and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'intrest' instead of 'interest' and 'progamming' instead of 'programming'. You also use some informal phrasing, such as 'good thing' and 'doing courses'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling. For example, instead of 'doing courses', use 'enrolling in academic programs' or 'pursuing higher education'. Expanding your range of collocations will help convey your ideas with more sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('he don't hve' instead of 'he doesn't have') and sentence structure ('I think is the best implement'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors that can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct punctuation before attempting more complex structures.
