Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 201 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position that the trend is positive, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and repetitive. For example, you mention government scholarships and personal experience, but these points lack the depth and specific examples required for a higher band. The response is also somewhat disjointed, as the paragraph regarding countries where people do not continue education is confusingly linked to the prompt. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full task development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions between sentences and paragraphs are often missing or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'In my opinion' and 'That's why'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between financial difficulties and the positive nature of education is muddled. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the lack of cohesive devices makes the flow of the argument feel mechanical and occasionally difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'however' would help connect your ideas more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'important', 'help', and 'increase' throughout the text. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'scholapship' instead of 'scholarship', 'activites' instead of 'activities', and 'developnment' instead of 'development'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or demonstrate a higher level of language proficiency. To improve, you should focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing the correct spelling of academic vocabulary. Incorporating more precise terminology related to education and societal trends would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people don't continuing'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'When i completed my intermediate, i continue my education'), and awkward sentence structures. The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary for higher band scores. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters and spacing. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct verb tense usage, and proofreading for common errors would be a beneficial next step.
