Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by arguing that the increase in higher education opportunities is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited. The essay focuses heavily on 'reading books' rather than the broader context of university and college courses mentioned in the prompt. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, often relying on generalizations rather than specific, well-developed examples. To improve, you should focus more on the academic and professional implications of increased university access, such as career advancement or societal progress, rather than general reading habits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Additional' instead of 'Additionally' and 'in his daily life' used awkwardly. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of smooth transitions between sentences. While the overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, the logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, which makes the writing feel disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'unlock the new skill' and 'collect knowledge'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'daily basic' instead of 'daily basis' and 'a survey claim that' instead of 'a survey claims that'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by grammatical errors. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('a survey claim', 'youngster are prefer'), article usage ('a idea', 'a courses'), and word order. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of semicolons and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the text from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors would significantly improve your score.
