Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the positive aspects of increased education and course variety. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding the benefits of higher education are repetitive, focusing primarily on job prospects without exploring broader societal or economic implications. The second paragraph regarding the range of courses is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or a clear conclusion. To improve, you should aim to extend your ideas with more depth and provide a more balanced or nuanced exploration of the topic, ensuring that each point is fully supported rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover' are used, they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as in the phrase 'that is such a good thing as peoples continuing their education', where the connection between the two clauses is weak. The internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear transitions between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'good thing', 'people', and 'qualified'. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'non qualified peoples' instead of 'unqualified people' or 'non-graduates'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition. For example, instead of repeating 'good thing', try using 'beneficial development' or 'advantageous trend'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you convey your points with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the number of people increased', 'education play a important role'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'Because in todays world it is very important to have a certain level of qualification.' The use of complex structures is attempted but often results in errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and using punctuation accurately. Practicing the difference between simple and complex sentences will help you improve your grammatical control.
