Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by arguing that the increase in higher education is a positive development. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. While you mention career options and economic growth, the ideas are not fully extended or supported with sufficient detail. The conclusion is repetitive and lacks a summary of the main points. To improve, you must expand on your examples and ensure you meet the word count requirement to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Additionally. another positive impact is, It not only...'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making the flow feel slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that your punctuation does not break the flow of your sentences. Better paragraph transitions would also help the reader follow your argument more easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'well pad job' (well-paid job) and 'higher educated work place' (highly educated workforce). You rely on simple, repetitive language. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and economics, while paying closer attention to word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('numbers... are significantly increased'), tense inconsistencies ('I believed that this can lead'), and article usage ('in modern era'). Punctuation is also problematic, with periods used incorrectly within sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors hinder the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
