Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a positive view on the increase in higher education, but the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. The arguments regarding job prospects and personal knowledge are underdeveloped, relying on vague examples rather than clear, logical explanations. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. The position is clear, but the lack of depth and the failure to reach the required length prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. While some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Further More' are used, they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly. The transition between sentences is frequently disjointed, making the flow of the argument difficult to follow at times. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure lacks the sophistication required for higher bands. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively support the development of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling (e.g., 'benfits', 'knowledage', 'maney', 'deploma'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with any precision or flexibility. The student relies on basic, everyday language and struggles to use academic or topic-specific terminology correctly. Many words are misspelled or used in incorrect contexts, which occasionally forces the reader to infer the intended meaning. A wider range of vocabulary is needed to express ideas more clearly and accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. Examples such as 'There are too much benfits when person continuing their study' and 'In India goverment make a rules' demonstrate significant issues with basic grammar. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always inaccurate, leading to confusion. Punctuation is also inconsistent throughout the text. These frequent errors, combined with the lack of structural variety, impede the clarity of the writing.
