Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 141 words long. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you state a clear position that the trend is positive, the arguments provided—such as financial independence and economic growth—are presented in a very superficial manner without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. To achieve a higher band, you must extend your arguments by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your points and provide specific illustrations. The essay is also incomplete, as it ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence, meaning the task is not fully addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'moreover', and 'overall' to signal the progression of ideas. However, the logical flow is hampered by the brevity of the text and the incomplete conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall structure. To improve, ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details, and use a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly rather than relying on simple transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'incremented' (which is not typically used in this context) and 'finical' (likely a misspelling of 'financial'). The repetition of words like 'students' and 'courses' suggests a limited vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to express your ideas with greater sophistication and accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'the numerous students are pursuing... has incremented' is grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with article usage and sentence construction, such as 'As the people who recently finished their school it will be a massive opportunity'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and sentence structure. Ensure that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound before moving on to more complex forms.
