Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by identifying the trend as a positive development. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which prevents a full development of ideas. While the position is clear, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'earning breads' is vague and lacks a concrete example of how education specifically impacts economic innovation. Because the essay is incomplete and fails to meet the length requirement, the development of ideas is limited, resulting in a lower score for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason' and 'On the other hand', but they are often followed by sentences that lack clarity or grammatical coherence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the conclusion is incomplete, which disrupts the overall flow of the argument. The paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak due to the lack of well-developed supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly. Phrases like 'soaring to staggering' and 'earning breads' are non-standard and impede the clarity of the message. There is an attempt to use academic vocabulary, such as 'contemporary society' and 'literacy rate', but these are often surrounded by errors in collocation and word choice. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely, and the repetition of basic terms suggests a restricted vocabulary. Significant improvement in word choice and collocation is required to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often make the text difficult to follow. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'universities... has also soaring'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'consequence into rapidly increment'), and missing articles. While there is an attempt at complex sentence structures, these are frequently faulty and contain punctuation errors. The majority of sentences are not error-free, and the persistent nature of these mistakes impacts the reader's ability to understand the intended meaning clearly.
