Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries these days the trend of pursuing higher education after college is a very encouraging and positive sign for me. Education has always has been a major problem for counties like pakistan. Still there are millions of childern which are out of school. In the past people used to have an taboo aganist education specially for girls. It was most commen in rural areas. But just as the time has changed ans so as peoples attitude we are seeing a positive feedback from parents toward pursuing higher education. One of benefits of the modren age is that there are varity of courses that can be studies withen univercities. In this modren day and smart phones are aslo our big source of education because how easily it allows us to acces education and knowledge. People can do online courses and univercities are also giving students a vide range of options. The biggest development in the present is the advancemt of AI and how it is changing the world revolutionary. I remmenber the days when i used to go to school on a bus and our school used to have a very old computer which we only be able to access during recess break. I used to play video games on just to kill some time. But now seeing childern having access to such an amazing technology fill my heart with joy. They are experiencing the world which was new to us but for them it will be mandane. I think the future of education is bright.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by identifying the trend as a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the variety of courses and the role of technology/AI, these points are not fully linked back to the core question of why the increase in higher education is a positive societal development. The essay relies heavily on personal anecdotes, such as your experience with school computers, rather than providing a balanced, academic discussion of the broader implications of increased higher education. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear argument supported by evidence or logical reasoning rather than personal narrative.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. There is a lack of paragraphing, which is essential for an academic essay. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'and' to connect clauses. To improve, you should organize your response into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Use linking words like 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in contrast' to guide the reader through your arguments more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'childern', 'pakistan', 'modren', 'varity', 'univercities', 'advancemt', 'remmenber') and word choice issues ('revolutionary' used as an adverb, 'mandane' instead of 'mundane'). While you attempt to use some topic-related vocabulary like 'higher education' and 'online courses,' the frequent spelling mistakes and limited range of sophisticated vocabulary hinder the overall quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Education has always has been'), incorrect article usage ('an taboo'), and sentence structure errors ('Still there are millions of childern which are out of school'). The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited use of complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and pluralization before attempting more complex structures.
