Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by identifying the trend as a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention that the range of courses is beneficial, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, you mention 'artificial intelligence' and 'chartered accountants' but do not explain how these specific fields contribute to the broader societal benefits of higher education. The essay relies heavily on general statements about 'dreams' and 'success' rather than providing a structured analysis of why this trend is positive. To improve, focus on providing clear, distinct reasons (e.g., economic growth, personal development) and supporting them with logical explanations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression within them is weak. Ideas are often presented in a disjointed manner, and the transition between sentences is frequently abrupt. There is a lack of cohesive devices; you rely on simple sentence structures and repetitive phrasing (e.g., 'In this new era', 'everyone wanted') rather than using linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in contrast'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of your argument. Improving the use of transition signals would significantly enhance the clarity of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. You frequently use simple words like 'better', 'good', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'get a admission' (should be 'gain admission') and 'the increases of course is best things' (should be 'the increase in the variety of courses is a positive development'). To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a wider range of academic vocabulary and demonstrate more precise control over word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone wanted' instead of 'everyone wants', 'the range of courses also increases' instead of 'has increased'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain run-on structures. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which are necessary for higher band scores. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences.
