Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of the development, mentioning both positive and negative aspects. However, the ideas remain underdeveloped and repetitive, lacking substantive examples or elaboration. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 224 words. This under-length impacts the full development required for higher bands. Based on the descriptors, the response partially addresses the task with limited idea extension, aligning best with a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
Paragraphing is attempted with conventional 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' markers, but the overall organization lacks logical progression and smooth transitions. Sentences often feel disjointed and repetitive, such as the repeated looping arguments about course confusion. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes incorrectly. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the line of argument. This performance aligns with Band 4.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary range is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'education', 'courses', 'students', and 'future'. There are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'citizenry have increased who\'s countinuing', 'unversities', and 'attained the education'. Spelling and morphological inaccuracies are noticeable throughout the text, occasionally causing minor difficulty for the reader. The lexical control reflects Band 4.5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside poorly formed complex constructions. There are frequent, noticeable grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('trainee will chose'), incorrect tense usage ('would be failed'), and punctuation errors ('Moreover.we'). These errors frequently distract the reader and impede clear communication, placing the grammar firmly at Band 4.0.
