Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays in majority of countries the number of individuals continuing their education after school has increased, and spectrum of courses available at universities and higher secondary institute has also increase. For my prespective, it is a positive development because in different institute students are now facilitate as compared to past. Firstly,in past there was less number of individuals was educated due to this factor literacy rate is also decreased. For that reason crime is increse and inhabitants feels to much fear around themselves. For example, In Pakistan balochistan have low literacy rate and educational instituttes or facilities. But in recent years government announces to open different levels of schools which plays a significant role in development of balochistan. Secondly, individuals are currently more enjoying thier eduction and learn useful skills for becoming successful in future to take benefit from his own skills. In europe teachers assigns task to thier students to research about various topics. Westerns invests a huge amount of revnue in educational system to open new colleges, universities and research labs. There is also varities of courses are available in there institutes. Students choose course of thier own intrest and works days and nights to achieve thier goals. For example, there so many names in western countries such as Elon Musks, Einstine, developed there own networks of business through on the basis of quality of education in thier countries. In conclusion, we have to need to increase the numbers of educational institutes and to give wide ranges of courses to facilitate populace with modern technological education. For this purpose government could gave permission to NGOs to develope educational system. To tackle with this problem both government and individuals should play a vital role to encourage the educational system.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating their position that the expansion of higher education is a positive development. Ideas are extended with examples, such as the mention of Pakistan and specific historical context, though some arguments drift into a general discussion of literacy and crime rather than focusing strictly on higher education courses. The position is maintained throughout, and the main parts of the task are covered. However, the development of ideas lacks a certain depth and clarity in places, resulting in a performance that aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors. The arguments are relevant, but some aspects are slightly under-developed or tangential, particularly regarding the economic and criminal links to educational expansion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the structure of the essay. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by abrupt transitions or grammatical issues, such as jumping between topics without smooth connections. Paragraphing is present, but the body paragraphs are quite dense and could be broken down more effectively. These features are characteristic of Band 6, where cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical and referencing is not always completely clear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic task, using terms such as 'development', 'literacy rate', 'technological education', and 'revnue'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, form, and spelling (e.g., 'prespective' instead of perspective, 'facilitate' instead of facilitated, 'increse' instead of increased, 'thier' instead of their, 'varities' instead of variety). Less common vocabulary is attempted, but inaccuracies in collocation and spelling prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary is adequate to convey the general meaning, fitting comfortably within the Band 5 to Band 6 range, but the noticeable errors in spelling and word formation keep it at Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures (e.g., 'Nowadays in majority of countries the number of individuals continuing their education after school has increased...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there was less number of individuals was', 'inhabitants feels'), article usage, and prepositions. For instance, sentences like 'For that reason crime is increse and inhabitants feels to much fear' and 'government could gave permission' contain glaring structural and tense inaccuracies. While communication is not entirely impeded, the high frequency of errors across various sentence structures places this response firmly at Band 5.
