Student answer (Band 5.0)

As we are currently living in a world full of technology and it effects the mind of people very much. The modern era make the people think out of the box, and made them the people who understands the need of time. Also it is in the human nature to change itself according to the time and if human does not do so then he or she cannot survive.

This phenomenon also happened in the field of education.About a 50 years ago, people were not getting education and if they did so the only get the education upto school level.

Now a days, people are becoming well educated and they want to utilise every opertunity they get. For that they are getting education upto university level in different fields.

Education is not about studying different subjects, it is the sense of recognition which it gives to a human. So people are becoming more sensible and they want to be successfull in this world full of technology.

For instance, the generation of our grandparents were not well educated so they are not well aware but our parents generation studied upto college and university level which helps them to make sure that there children will aolso get the education upto higher level so they could survive in this world.

In my opinion, it is the right of everybody to get education and can get it done in any field of their interest. And now a days every field demands top students of their field so that's why universties are offering many subjects as compared to in the past because thenumber of fields in the past is limited and now it is not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by discussing whether the increase in people continuing education and the wider range of university courses is a positive or negative development. The writer clearly leans towards a positive view, stating that 'it is the right of everybody to get education'. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The arguments rely heavily on general assertions about technology and human nature rather than fully developed, specific examples. The reference to grandparents and parents adds a personal touch, but the explanation remains superficial. The response fits the Band 5 descriptor because it addresses the task only partially, and the position, while ultimately discernible, is obscured by unclear explanations and undeveloped ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows some basic organisation, opening with an introduction, moving to historical context, and concluding with a personal opinion. However, there is no clear overall progression, and the paragraphs are disjointed. The second paragraph consists of just one very short sentence that interrupts the flow between the introduction and the main body. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused; phrases like 'For that' and 'Also it is in the human nature' feel mechanical and awkward. Paragraphing is also erratic, with single-sentence paragraphs disrupting logical flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'it' and 'they' in the opening sentences. Overall, these cohesion and referencing issues correspond to a Band 5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, which minimally satisfies the requirements for the task. Words like 'education', 'field', 'people', and 'technology' are repeated excessively throughout the short text. There are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'effects' instead of 'affects', 'opertunity' instead of 'opportunity', 'successfull', and 'aolso'. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, for example, 'made them the people who understands' and 'get the education upto'. While the reader can generally understand the intended meaning, the frequent errors and restricted lexical range place this response firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. The writer relies heavily on simple sentences or faulty attempts at complex structures that contain frequent errors. Examples include 'As we are currently living in a world full of technology and it effects the mind of people very much', which is a sentence fragment, and 'if human does not do so', which lacks a plural or article. Subject-verb agreement errors are common, such as 'the generation of our grandparents... so they are not well aware'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and run-on ideas. Because attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty and grammar errors cause some difficulty for the reader, a Band 5 score is appropriate.
