Student answer (Band 5.0)

Now a days, in most of the countries the percentage of people gowing for the higher education after school is increased a lot, as a result the number of subjects are also raised by the universities. And i think this is a positive sign. The two reasons to the positive development and a counter reason is explained in detail along with the conclusion.

Firstly, i think that continues personal and professional development is the key positive factor. People these days are more interested in getting knowledge and learning new skills. So,when they would be choosing higher education this would expand their knowledge and ways of thinking and finding soultions.

Further more, when they get more knowledge in universities they get the more opportunity to brainstorm and generate better ways to deal with the difficicult situation at work in future. In this way, they will be able to identify the problems early and have the time to think of the alternative of perforing the task.

On the flip side the negative point is that the morw twh people know the more they get busy having no time to enjoy the life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt by expressing a clear position that the increase in higher education is a positive sign. However, the development of ideas is severely limited and under-developed. For example, the reasons provided in the body paragraphs remain brief and lack specific supporting examples or relevant experiences as requested by the task. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 190 words against the minimum requirement of 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall fullness of the response, aligning it with the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some basic organization, utilizing introductory and body paragraphs, and incorporates cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Further more', and 'On the flip side'. However, the logical progression is hindered by abrupt transitions and underdeveloped thoughts. Paragraphing is handled awkwardly, with the introduction serving as a disjointed block and sentences within the body paragraphs feeling somewhat mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the pronoun use becomes slightly confusing. These characteristics reflect the Band 5 descriptor, where there is some organization but inadequate or repetitive use of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but is limited and contains numerous spelling and word choice errors. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'gowing' instead of going, 'continues' instead of continuing, 'soultions' instead of solutions, 'difficicult' instead of difficult, 'perforing' instead of performing, 'morw' instead of more, and 'twh' instead of the. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a limited control over spelling and word formation. While the student attempts some less common phrases like 'professional development' and 'brainstorm', the frequent slips place this performance at a Band 5 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms with frequent grammatical errors. Examples include capitalization issues ('And i think', 'Firstly, i think'), missing articles ('get the more opportunity'), subject-verb agreement issues ('the percentage of people ... is increased'), and tense misuse ('when they would be choosing'). These errors frequently occur throughout the text and can cause difficulty for the reader. Because the control of grammar and punctuation is inconsistent and complex structures are often faulty, the response fits the Band 5 descriptor.
