Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the prompt by stating that the increase in post-school education and courses is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive, relying on broad assertions without deep exploration. While the student mentions personal experiences and local examples such as courses in Pakistan, the arguments remain somewhat superficial and lack fully extended support. The position is stated, but the overall task fulfilment suffers from underdeveloped reasoning and brief paragraphs. This aligns closely with Band 5, where ideas are limited and the task is addressed only partially.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text is divided into four paragraphs, showing an awareness of essay structure. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and disjointed sentences, such as 'In my own knowledge and experience. It is a positive development.' Cohesive devices are often used inaccurately or mechanically, as seen with repeated misused words like 'Although' and 'THUS'. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion fails to create a smooth flow of ideas, leading to an overall impression of disjointedness. This corresponds to Band 4, where information is not consistently arranged coherently.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently revolving around terms like 'courses', 'education', 'students', and 'positive development'. There are numerous spelling errors and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'modren', 'him', 'corses', 'Howeven', 'eassly', and 'recieved'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic, the high frequency of errors and the lack of less common lexical items restrict the score to a Band 4 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, but grammatical control is very weak. There are frequent, pervasive errors in punctuation, capitalization, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency, such as 'present days world has aslo moved modren education' and 'over government built very big and tall colleges'. Fragments and run-on sentences frequently impede communication and place a heavy strain on the reader. These persistent and major grammatical inaccuracies firmly place the response at Band 4.
