Student answer (Band 5.5)

Being a Pharmd and still trying to learn more & explore more, I would postively support this statement of availability of many courses and people continuing their education. I beleive life is all about learning new things and exploring new things, because life never stops teaching. In the growing world of today, there are developments everywhere, regardless of the fields/domains. People never taught that there will something called as AI will come into existense and will be a direct threat to their jobs. Initially, 15-20 years back there were only few courses available, people would either choose some of the relevant field of education or would direclty start with some hard skills or start a business. But world today has changed completely, with advancements happening across the world, there should be advancements in the field of education as well. We may have developed good softwares or advanced machinery as well, but if we dont have the right skill or right labour with appropriate knowledge about the updated system or software, it would be difficult for us to cope up with the advancements of the next generation. Lets take an example of my field medical writing, Initially we employes were solely responsble for the drafting the whole scientific document within the deadlines and report the regulatory. But with the AI in picture, the scenario has chaged completely, AI is being used for the literature screening, screening of the regulatory websites and checking for any updates about the products, if the person responsible for drafting doesn't have knowledge about the use of AI, it would be difficult for him to draft the documents as per the latest conventions and coping up with the industry. So I strongly believe that people should continue their education after schools and should never stop learning

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly by taking a clear position supporting the increase in post-school education and course availability. The writer presents relevant ideas and extends them using personal and professional knowledge, specifically drawing on the medical writing and pharmaceutical fields. However, the development tends to be somewhat conversational and anecdotal rather than fully explored academic argumentation. The main position is maintained throughout, and the relevance of the arguments to the prompt is clear. Therefore, this performance meets the criteria for Band 6.5, showing a clear stance and relevant, supported ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text presents a coherent overall arrangement and expresses a clear personal narrative. However, the essay is written as one single, long paragraph without any paragraph breaks, which heavily impacts the overall structural presentation. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing and transitions can be mechanical or repetitive, such as 'because life never stops teaching' and 'Lets take an example'. While ideas progress logically from a general statement to specific industry examples, the lack of paragraphing prevents the response from achieving a higher band. Consequently, the organization and cohesion align with Band 5.5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a fair range of vocabulary suitable for the topic, including terms like 'existense', 'advancements', 'regulatory websites', and 'conventions'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'Pharmd' (capitalization/formatting), 'positivley', 'beleive', 'employes', 'responsble', and 'chaged'. Some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'report the regulatory'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is adequate to communicate the writer's meaning without causing significant confusion for the reader. This performance fits comfortably into the Band 6.0 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, incorrect prepositions, and punctuation issues throughout the text, such as comma splices and run-on sentences (e.g., 'Initially 15-20 years back there were only few courses available, people would either choose...'). Articles are occasionally missing ('with the AI in picture'), and verb agreements show minor slips. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur with enough frequency to prevent the grammar score from reaching Band 6.0. Therefore, a band score of 5.5 is appropriate.
