Student answer (Band 5.5)

Now a days, there is increment of people for persuading education for completion of school, and domain of courses at higher education and colleges has also uplifted. In my opinion, it is a beneficial and hopeful growth in the society.

On the one hand, in this technologically advanced era people are well aware by importance of education, so majority of young public intend to continue their learning after ending school. Furthermore, adding new courses in universities and colleges act as catalyst to enhance productivity of learners. Moreover, in this generation rate of unemployment is increasing at alarming scale, so it is quite crucial to persuade education after school. Modern and latest courses assist the students to develop critical and practical skills, that make their way easier to employment. For example, a university offers course on renewable energy may enable students to create innovative ideas to reduce environnmental energy consumption. In addition, graduates with extra skills contribute in variety of industries help in economic growth.

On the other hand, concinving education after school could be burden to students and their families specially for low income. College fees, transportation, and accommodation could be difficult to manage for parents. Frequent addition of courses in universities and colleges could effect the mental state of students, it become quite challenging to choose particular study field. Too many choices effect the quality of education if universities do not have sufficient resources.

In conclusion, continuing of education after school is beneficial for people rather than looking for work with low education. Introduction of latest courses act as incubator for students in their better future, but this addition without solid resources could effect the integrity of universities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of increasing post-school education and course availability, and a clear personal position is presented in the introduction and maintained throughout. The main ideas are generally relevant, covering economic growth, critical skills development, financial burdens on families, and institutional resource strain. However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from underdeveloped examples, such as the mention of renewable energy courses which remains brief. Nevertheless, the writer presents a well-rounded discussion that satisfies the core requirements of Task Achievement. This performance aligns comfortably with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, utilizing standard introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, expressions like 'concinving education' and awkward pronoun referencing occasionally disrupt the smooth progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the contrasting viewpoints, but overall logical flow is at times hampered by unnatural connective phrasing and sentence-to-sentence transitions. These characteristics are representative of a Band 6 performance.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic discussion, incorporating terms such as 'technologically advanced era', 'unemployment', 'incubator', and 'integrity'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices throughout the text. Phrases like 'increment of people for persuading education' instead of 'increase in people pursuing education', 'young public', and spelling errors such as 'environnmental' and 'concinving' reveal limitations in control over less common lexical items. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the main arguments, frequent errors in word choice and collocation prevent the response from achieving a higher band. This is a clear Band 5.5 performance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses (e.g., 'that make their way easier to employment' and 'if universities do not have sufficient resources'). However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are numerous grammatical errors, including missing articles ('a university offers course on renewable energy'), incorrect prepositions ('aware by importance'), and agreement issues ('Too many choices effect the quality'). These errors are frequent and occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, although they do not entirely impede overall communication. This level of grammatical control corresponds to a Band 5.0.
