Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many nations these days, the number of people pursuing their education after school has inclined, and the number of subjects available at colleges and universities has also increased. I believe that this is a positive development because of the following reasons.
I think the number of people continuing their eduaction is a positive develpopment for themselves and their country. I believe that, people can contribute a lot to the society they are living by pursuing higher studies. They can choose careers of their choice and eventually become succesful in them. They can serve in both public and private sectors and also help the government in strengthening country's economy. For instance, doctors can serve the society by providing them with quality healthcare.
The range of subjects in colleges and universities has also increased which is good for students who want to study unconventional subjects. A few decades ago, medicine, engineering and law were considered to be one of the most important degrees for students. Students who couldnot get admission in these majors were stressed. However, a lot of new courses have now been added, due to which students have many options as compared to the past. For example, student who don't get admission in medicine can enroll in allied health sciences which let them work in medical field. Students can aslo choose unconventional subjects like music.
In conclusion, i believe that increase in the number of people continuing their education after school, and increase in the range of subjects available is a positive development because it might help the country's economy and provides wider options of choices for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by stating a clear position that the trend is a positive development. It presents relevant ideas regarding personal and national benefits, as well as the advantage of having a wider variety of courses. However, some ideas remain under-developed or somewhat generalized. For instance, the mention that doctors serve society or that students can study music is introduced without sufficient extension or detailed support. To move higher, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the argument with more specific explanations and extended examples rather than stopping at brief illustrations. Note that 9 words copied from the prompt were excluded from the official word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and logical paragraphing where each body paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the prompt. Information progresses reasonably well, though the cohesion feels a bit mechanical at times through repetitive phrasing like 'I think' and 'The range of subjects'. Referencing and logical connectors are generally adequate, but they lack the flexibility and smooth transitions characteristic of a higher band. To improve further, the writer should employ a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that connections between sentences are tighter and less predictable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'unconventional subjects', 'allied health sciences', and 'strengthening country's economy'. However, there are notable lexical shortcomings, including spelling errors like 'eduaction', 'develpopment', 'succesful', and 'aslo', alongside slightly unnatural word choices such as 'inclined' instead of 'increased'. While these vocabulary and spelling errors do not seriously impede communication, they prevent the text from achieving a higher rating. Enhancing precision in word choice and ensuring accurate spelling are key steps for improvement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional or relative clauses like 'Students who couldnot get admission in these majors were stressed.' There are some grammar and punctuation errors present, such as missing articles ('student who don't get admission' instead of 'students') and capitalization oversights ('i believe'). However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument without difficulty. To reach the next level, the writer should incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy and polish control over punctuation and article usage.
