Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the trend of increased higher education and course availability, and clearly states an opinion that this is a positive development. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, which is characteristic of this band. For instance, while the mention of university placement programmes and practical experience supports the positive stance, points regarding technology and artificial intelligence are introduced briefly without deep extension. The position remains clear throughout the essay, though the overall development of supporting arguments tends to be somewhat general rather than thoroughly elaborated.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, as well as distinct body paragraphs. Information and ideas are logically sequenced, allowing the reader to follow the writer's line of reasoning regarding the benefits of higher education. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, seen in repetitive transitional phrases like 'Also' and 'Moreover', and referencing is not always completely clear. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the causes of the trend versus the personal and societal benefits, but smoother inter-sentence transitions are needed to progress to a higher level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'employment opportunites', 'competetive degree', and 'placement programmes'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, including 'concerning' instead of 'concerned', 'increament' instead of 'increment', 'considereable', 'atleast on', and 'newly graduates'. These inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the score because precision and control over word forms are not fully sustained.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, some errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage throughout the text, such as run-on sentences in the introduction ('as a result the number'), missing plural forms ('courses like Machine Learning... has newly introduced'), and awkward phrasing ('good the employment rate'). Fortunately, these grammatical lapses rarely impede communication. To reach a higher level, the writer would need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and maintain tighter control over subject-verb agreement.
