You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries around the world, the number of people continuing their education after school have significantly increased. Adding to that many colleges have also started providing more cources to the students so that they have an option to choose from. While some people believe that taking such actions won't contribute towards the economy, I certainly believe that i will be really advantageous for the country as well as the people of country.

In recent times artificial technology is used in every field whether it be engneering, medical or law. AI is everywhere. Unfortunately it is overtaking the job oppourtunities of people like us. Hence people who don't have jobs often look forward to continuing thier education as it would add to their skills, experience and knowledge. It would make them a better human being and and an asset to the country. Moreover, provision of more cources at universities and colleges will help them attract more and more students and help them earn more money so that they could contribute to the overall economy of the country.

At the same time, many people often oppose such decisons as they feel that it might not be helpful to either the students or the universities. I say so because netizens believe that nothing could predict the uncertainities of the job market. They often feel that it may help you add to your knowledge about your field, but it might still not garauntee a job to them. I would like to say that we should always think bigger becuase ultimately the goal is not to get hired but to be a better human being and gaining knowledge.

In conclusion, i believe that more and more people should continue their education after school not just because of the uncertainities of job market but because it will help you gain confidence and add to your knowlegde. There is a famous saying that " one might get stolen of their material wealth but not of their knowledge".

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position that the trend is a positive development. Relevant ideas are presented, such as individuals enhancing their skills to combat job market uncertainties driven by artificial intelligence and universities boosting the economy. However, some ideas are under-developed or somewhat generalized. For instance, the point regarding artificial technology overtaking job opportunities is introduced, but its connection to continuing education could be pushed further with more specific examples. Similarly, the economic contribution of universities is stated rather than fully explained. To reach a higher level, every main idea needs robust, extended support and thorough elaboration throughout the essay, ensuring that no argument relies on simple assertion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance and logical division into paragraphs, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides of the issue, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, and referencing is not always completely clear. For example, transitional phrases like "At the same time" are used to introduce the opposing view, but the internal logical progression between sentences can feel slightly disjointed, such as the sudden shift from job uncertainties to the ultimate goal of being a better human being in the third paragraph. Furthermore, pronouns like "it" in phrases such as "I certainly believe that i will be really advantageous" create minor referencing ambiguities. Improving the subtlety of cohesive devices and ensuring seamless transitions between sentences would elevate this aspect of the writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer uses an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common vocabulary such as "advantageous", "uncertainties", and "netizens". However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occur throughout the text, which prevent the lexical score from being higher. Examples of spelling errors include "cources" instead of courses, "engneering" instead of engineering, "oppourtunities" instead of opportunities, "thier" instead of their, "decisons" instead of decisions, "garauntee" instead of guarantee, "becuase" instead of because, and "knowlegde" instead of knowledge. Additionally, word choice slips appear, such as writing "artificial technology" instead of artificial intelligence, and "stolen of their material wealth" rather than deprived of. To improve, the writer needs to expand their control over less common lexical items and pay closer attention to accurate spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures with subordinate clauses such as "While some people believe that taking such actions..." and "...so that they have an option to choose from." However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Subject-verb agreement errors are present, notably in the opening sentence where "the number of people... have significantly increased" incorrectly uses a plural verb instead of 'has'. Article and capitalization errors also occur, such as writing "i" in lowercase instead of 'I', omitting articles before nouns like "job market", and using prepositions inaccurately in phrases like "stolen of their material wealth". While communication is not severely blocked, achieving a higher standard requires better control over complex sentence structures and a higher proportion of error-free sentences.
