Student answer (Band 5.0)

The number of people continuing their education after school has increased, and the range of courses available at universities and colleges has also increased in many countries. In my opinion it is a positive development.

The increasing trend is seen that most number of students are going for furthur studies after school. That means more people are interested in higher studies than before. Because of that, there is a possibility that the countries will be developed in future as we know that the more education you have in a country the more probabilty for a country to be developed. Only education can enhance a country's economy. A report from BBC in 2020 published about the parallel relation between education and development of a country.

Also, if people get further education and enroll more courses, they will gather a lot of knowledges that will help enhance their moral values. As a result, social crime rate such as corruption, rape, social abuse, social media misinformation spreading will be decreased day by day. There is a survay from CNN says that crime rates are less among the countries in which people have higher education.

Therefore, it is a positive development that people are now interested more about further studies after school and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You state a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion, and both main points—the potential contribution of education to national development and its possible social benefits—are relevant to the question. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the ideas are asserted rather than sufficiently explained, and the examples (“a report from BBC” and “a survey from CNN”) are vague, with no findings or details to support the claims. The conclusion is also unfinished, ending with “and”. The response contains 185 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 250 words; 24 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example, and complete the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “The increasing trend” and “Also”, and an attempted conclusion introduced by “Therefore”. This helps the reader identify the main points. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several links between claims are not made clear. For example, the move from higher education to reduced crime is asserted without explaining how education would produce that outcome. “Because of that” and “As a result” signal relationships, but the reasoning that follows is not sufficiently developed. The final sentence is incomplete, which weakens the overall ending. Build a clearer sequence in each paragraph—claim, explanation, and example—and use referencing and linking phrases to show how each point supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “higher studies”, “economy”, “moral values” and “crime rates”. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “parallel relation” and “enhance”. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which reduces precision: “gather a lot of knowledges” and “the more probabilty for a country to be developed” are examples. Spelling errors such as “furthur”, “probabilty” and “survay” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “gain knowledge”, “increase the likelihood of development” and “a survey found”. This would make your argument clearer and more appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, including “Because of that, there is a possibility that the countries will be developed in future” and “if people get further education … they will gather…”. These show some ability to connect clauses, and the main meaning is generally understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “The increasing trend is seen that most number of students are going” has an awkward construction, while “the more education you have in a country the more probability…” lacks clear grammatical framing and punctuation. The final sentence is incomplete, and the comma after “country” in the comparative structure is missing. Practise forming complete, controlled complex sentences and check clause structure, articles, and punctuation.
