Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a clear overall position in favour of the development, stating that it is positive and repeating this view in the conclusion. You also identify relevant points: further study may improve career prospects, while its cost and the possibility of unemployment are drawbacks. However, the response addresses the question only partially because these ideas are briefly stated rather than explained or supported with specific examples. The discussion of the wider range of courses is especially limited, and the conclusion introduces “physical skills” without explaining how this relates to the argument. The response is also 61 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop the main points. Explain each claim and add a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph about benefits, a paragraph about drawbacks, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the career-benefit paragraph moves from qualifications to an example, but the example is unclear and does not fully explain the claim. Linking is also sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, “however” introduces the cost paragraph, while “although” is then used without a complete contrast structure. Capitalisation and punctuation, such as the lowercase “in conclusion” and inconsistent sentence starts, also interrupt the flow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “career prospects,” “specialized qualification,” “financial pressure,” and “suitable employment.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss education and work rather than relying entirely on very basic wording. However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make parts difficult to understand: “a huge courses,” “finde better work,” and “large opportunities” are not natural choices. There are also repeated general terms such as “positive development” and “better.” Build a more precise set of education-related collocations, and check spelling carefully. For example, explain what kinds of opportunities or skills you mean instead of using broad phrases that do not convey a clear idea.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “studying for many years can be expensive and may…” and a sentence beginning “although.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. Examples include “the number of students are choosing,” “a huge courses,” and “someone who have,” where the verb or noun form does not agree with the subject. The sentence beginning “although” is not correctly connected to a main clause, and several sentences lack consistent capitalisation or punctuation. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns first, then use subordinate clauses such as “although” in complete, correctly punctuated sentences.
