Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary world, a significant number of people continue their studies after completing school, and a wide range of courses has also been introduced at universities and colleges. I believe that this is a positive development because it provides with better career opportunities and courses help them to enhance their skills.

People who continue their studies after completing schools may have better career options. Ths is mainly because schools provide only basic education, which does not help individuals to earn enough money and make their career meaningful. For instance, a recent survey among various communities found that individuals with higher education have well-paid jobs and better career opportunities, while people who discontinue their education after school are found to be frustrated and stressful. Consequently, numerous people are consider school education to be basic and insufficient for building a better future and career.

Another thing is the avaibility of wide range of courses at universities and colleges is also a positive development. The main reason is that a considerable number of courses that includes in a curriculum may help students in a number of ways. Firstly, it enhances their skills and knowlegde about the particular subject or topic. Secondly, it may benefit them from the career point of view. The more topics students learn, the more skilled they become. Thirdly, it can also help them to get better grades in the ec=xams.

In conclusion, a significant number of people continuing their studies after schooling and in universities there are a wide range of courses that has been increased these days, I believe that both are positive developments as it brings better career options and better future and also it enhances ptactical skills and grades, which obviously help students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider both increased participation in further education and the wider course range positive. You address both parts of the topic and give relevant reasons, including improved career prospects and the development of subject knowledge and skills. The example about a survey adds support, although it is presented generally and without specific detail. Some ideas are less fully developed than others: the claim that more topics lead to better grades is asserted rather than explained, and the discussion does not consider any limitations or conditions. To strengthen the response, explain how particular courses build skills employers value and use a more concrete example to show the effect on students’ futures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing the two developments, and a conclusion that restates your view. The progression within the second body paragraph is easy to follow, with “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” signalling separate benefits. This clear organisation meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the linking can feel mechanical, and the conclusion combines several ideas in a long, awkward sentence, making the final summary less clear. Some references are also imprecise, such as “it” in “it enhances their skills,” where the reader must infer whether this means the curriculum or course availability. Use more varied transitions and make references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main points, including “career opportunities,” “higher education,” “curriculum,” and “skills.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a considerable number” and “from the career point of view.” However, the range is uneven, and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “avaibility,” “knowlegde,” and “ec=xams” are misspelled, while “people are consider” and “better future and career” are not natural expressions. Repetition of “better” and “career” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common academic collocations and proofread spelling, while choosing precise terms rather than repeating broad phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “This is mainly because” and a comparative structure, “The more topics students learn, the more skilled they become.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction and agreement. For example, “courses that includes” has a plural subject with a singular verb, and “people are consider” uses an incorrect verb form. The conclusion also has a long sentence with unclear structure and agreement: “there are a wide range of courses that has been increased.” These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they make parts of the response less controlled. Practise subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and divide long sentences into clearer units.
