Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many parts of the world, the amount of individuals continuing their studies after school level has rose, and the variety of courses available at universities and colleges has increased too. I believe this is a positive development because it provides various options for learners to choose the subject according to their intrests and also contribute in economic development of country.

One of the major benefits of increasing number of students in universities and collages is that it helps to produce large number of skilled manpowers which can be beneficial for country's economical growth. This is to say that, universities produces different professionals such as doctors and engineers who are essential for national growth. For instance, countries with highly skilled engineers can develop their technology and earn revenue from international markets.

The availability of variety of courses at universities and collages helps learners to choose subjects based on their interests and long -term career goals. This is to say that, when a wide range of options is avaiable in universities and collages, students can choose subjects on which they are particularly interested and wants to build career. For example, students who have an innate ability of drawing can go with arts related subjects, which helps them to gain subject-specific knowledge.

In conclusion, i believe that the number of people ongoing their study even after school and availability of wide variety of courses at universities and volleges is positive development because it can contribute in country's economic development and provide the opportunity for students to choose the subject according to their long term goal.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You clearly answer the question by stating that the trend is positive, and you address both increased participation in higher education and the wider choice of courses. The two main reasons—developing skilled workers to support economic growth and allowing students to follow their interests and career goals—are relevant. The examples of engineers contributing to technology and students with drawing ability choosing arts courses help illustrate these points. However, the economic argument is explained more fully than the personal-choice argument, which would benefit from a clearer account of how course choice leads to better outcomes. The conclusion restates your position but adds little synthesis. Develop the second reason further and make the links between each example and your overall judgement more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate benefits, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a recognisable central focus, and signposts such as “For instance” and “For example” help readers follow the supporting details. However, the repeated phrase “This is to say that” makes the progression somewhat mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Some links between claims and examples could also be clearer; for instance, explain more directly how skilled graduates translate into broader national economic growth. Use a wider range of natural transitions and referencing, and ensure each paragraph develops its point step by step rather than relying on repeated framing phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “skilled manpower,” “economic growth,” “professionals,” “career goals,” and “subject-specific knowledge,” which allows you to discuss education and its benefits. There are also attempts at more specific phrasing, such as “innate ability” and “international markets.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “intrests,” “avaiable,” and “volleges.” Some combinations are unnatural or imprecise: “amount of individuals” is less suitable than “number of people,” and “economical growth” should be “economic growth.” “Manpowers” is also not the natural form in this context. Check spelling carefully and learn common academic collocations so your vocabulary sounds more accurate and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and more complex structures, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “when.” This gives the response some variety, and the main ideas remain understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur. In the opening, “has rose” should be “has risen”; later, “universities produces” needs subject–verb agreement, and “students … wants” should be “students … want.” There are also article and number issues in phrases such as “produce large number” and “positive development.” Capitalisation is inconsistent in “i,” and punctuation around introductory phrases is sometimes awkward. Review verb forms, agreement, and articles, then proofread each sentence. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence structures clearer.
