Student answer (Band 5.5)

Answer: The trend of continue education after school is increased nowadays. It is a positive development. Many universities and colleges also increased the range of courses due to increasing interests towards education. In the forthcoming paragraph i will enhance the positive effects of this trend.

Firstly in past after school people just did work and never converted their intentions to education. After the inventions and development in information technology the jobs pop out from Information Technology sectors that's why the need of new course arised. Many universities increased the range of these courses.

Furthermore, after coming the social media the world converted into global village. Every type of knowlegde accessable just a step away. Through YouTube a person can do many courses. YouTube is a river of knowledge. After completing school or university we just get a degree in a piece of paper but through course a person can learn skill. Skill always pays. Through skill a person can build a career and settle his/her future . This is the significient benefit of this trend or change.

Best positive example of this change is in IT sector. People from different department of studies did course of IT and converted his/her passion and career and build a great exaple.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You state a clear overall view—“It is a positive development”—and give relevant reasons, including the value of practical skills and the growth of IT-related study. The example of people from other fields taking IT courses also supports your position. However, the response addresses the topic only partially: it focuses mainly on online learning and employment, while the question specifically concerns increased participation in further education and the wider range of courses at universities and colleges. Several claims, such as “Skill always pays,” are asserted rather than explained, and the final point that many options cause confusion is not developed or reconciled with your positive view. Explain how these changes benefit learners and society, and support each main idea with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, several supporting points, and a brief contrasting observation. Paragraph openings such as “Firstly” and “Furthermore” help signal the sequence of ideas. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear. The discussion moves from past employment to information technology, then social media and YouTube, without always showing how each point directly supports the question about university and college education. Some linking phrases are mechanical, and the final “Nevertheless” point is left without explanation or a concluding statement. Group related ideas into focused paragraphs, use transitions to show cause and effect, and finish by summarising why the advantages outweigh the drawback.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “range of courses,” “information technology sectors,” “global village,” and “career,” and some phrases communicate your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. For example, “jobs pop out,” “YouTube is a river of knowledge,” and “converted his/her passion and career” are unnatural or unclear in this context. Errors such as “knowlegde,” “significient,” and “exaple” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise academic phrasing and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe courses as “emerging” or “increasingly available,” and explain that they help learners “develop practical skills” rather than relying on broad slogans.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and some attempts at longer sentences, such as the explanation beginning “After the inventions and development in information technology…”. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “The trend of continue education…is increased,” “Many universities and colleges also increased,” and “after coming the social media,” where verb forms and sentence construction are faulty. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “a person can build a career and settle his/her future .” Practise accurate present and past forms, and build complex sentences with clear clauses—for example, “As technology has developed, demand for IT courses has grown.”
