Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries today, the trend of a higher education after completion of school has enhanced, and a new variety of courses available at universities and colleges are also enhanced. From my perspective, this is a positive development because higher education prepares individuals with more advanced skills and the new range of course will be beneficial in choosing their passion.

The world is becoming more advance and competent, to be with in the race, the demand of higher education is growing everyday because it provides equal opportunities and new skills to learn. It is promoting advance minds with variety of knowledge. Although in some countries the spending of money on higher education is more expensive but in return the skills and experience you get, is worth more then your spending. For example civil engineering is one of most demanded fields in Gulf states and Australia to get hired in top firms you first have need to meet their required terms the end pay is far greater then your overall investment so it feels like return in investment.

The universities are providing variety of different courses, which are specially designed to meet job market and students life time goals and passion. For example Specially after A.I students are now focusing to learn the usage of artificial intelligence it in their respective fields.

In conclusion, the higher education with following your passion is the need of time to achieve your goals in this demanding world. So the world is at right path because the well educated youth will contribute to development of countries by fulfilling their job markets and new tech innovations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider the trend positive, and the conclusion reinforces this view. You address both increased participation in higher education and the wider choice of courses, with relevant points about skills, employment and personal interests. The civil-engineering example gives some support to your argument about career benefits. However, the discussion of costs is brief, and the claim that investment brings a worthwhile return is not fully explained. The point about AI courses is also introduced but not developed with a specific illustration of how they benefit students or employers. This covers the task well overall, while fuller explanation and more balanced development of the supporting examples would make the argument more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally progress from the value of higher education to the relevance of course choice, and phrases such as “For example” help signal supporting details. However, connections between some claims are abrupt. The first body paragraph moves from equal opportunities to costs and then to civil engineering without clearly showing how each point supports the main argument. The AI example is very brief, so the second body paragraph feels less developed. Some linking is also mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “For example” and the concluding “So.” Clearer topic sentences and more explicit links between each example and its paragraph’s main idea would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “higher education,” “advanced skills,” “job market,” “artificial intelligence” and “innovations.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt more specific language when discussing engineering and employment. However, several inaccurate word choices and collocations reduce naturalness: “the trend of a higher education … has enhanced,” “more advance and competent,” and “return in investment” are not idiomatic in these contexts. There is also repetition of “enhanced” and “variety,” while phrases such as “new tech innovations” are imprecise. Aim to learn vocabulary in natural combinations and check word forms and spelling. More precise expressions would help you communicate the same ideas with greater clarity and flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession with “Although” and a relative clause beginning “which are specially designed.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “a new variety of courses … are also enhanced” has a subject–verb and verb-choice problem, while “the skills and experience you get, is worth” has faulty agreement and punctuation. In “you first have need to meet their required terms,” the verb pattern is incorrect, and “the end pay is far greater then your overall investment” lacks clear sentence boundaries. Work on agreement, articles, verb patterns and punctuation, and revise long sentences into clearer units while continuing to practise complex structures.
