Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider the increase in further education and course choice a positive development. You address both aspects of the prompt, discussing career progression and the expansion of specialist study, and the lecturer and IVF examples make your points relevant. This meets the task well overall. However, the first body paragraph develops career advancement more fully than the broader benefits of continuing education, while the second example focuses mainly on one medical specialism and does not clearly explain the wider value of having more courses. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits to individuals or society more explicitly and connect each example directly to the claim it supports. A more developed discussion of possible drawbacks is not essential, but could add nuance to your positive position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “Firstly” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion that restates your view. The ideas generally progress from career development to new areas of study, so the overall organisation is coherent. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “inaddition for career growth” does not clearly link the ideas, and the IVF example moves from infertility treatment to an increase in gynaecologists without explaining the relationship. Several sentences also contain multiple ideas joined by commas, making the progression harder to follow. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and divide long sentences where needed. More precise referencing would help readers see how each example supports the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “career growth,” “promotion,” “technology advancement,” and “infertility,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “avaliable,” “developement,” “particularlly,” and “a mean of reducing” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “random courses” and “success record of babies.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they can cause difficulty in places and keep the vocabulary from being consistently effective. Build a bank of accurate academic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise expressions such as “specialise in a field” and “successful births” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example about a lecturer who wants promotion and a clause explaining why institutions offer different courses. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. In the opening, “the figures … has increased” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the various courses … had also increased” shifts tense unnecessarily. Other examples include “Some persons first degree or courses is not enough,” where the possessive and agreement are unclear, and “so it encourage,” which does not agree with its subject. Comma placement and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, checking agreement, tense consistency, articles, and punctuation before adding further complexity.
