Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent times, the numbers for people pursuing higher education after finishing school have rised and the availability of academic specialisations at educational institutes has also expanded in significant number of countries. In my view, this is largely a positive development because it will increase the literacy rate and improve the living conditions of people through suitable earning opportunities.

First of all, education plays crucial role in shaping the societies and it is basic right of every human. It teachs us the way of living a life and how we can benefit the people around us. For example, an educated person is more likely to help out poor people and he will not perform any actions which can cause harm to the society. Therefore, knowledge develops a feeling of understanding between us we become emotionally connected. Consequently, as a nation, social problems can be addressed more efficiently in the country.

Moreover, the options of choosing different fields of study give students more careers aspects. As the world is changing rapidly and new innovations are taking place each day, people can choose one of these fields and can lead the process of development. This is not only beneficial for individuals but also can foster country's economic progress. For example, students can now choose Artificial Intelligence as their major subjects and work under different Internationals firms. As a result, they can earn more, spend money on themselves and improve their lives as well as bringing considerably amount of capital through foreign remmitence.

In conclusion, I largely believe that increase in people's literacy and expansion of curriculum is positive development as it teachs people how to be a good member of community and it improve individual's earning capabilities by offering wide range of careers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you regard the growth in higher education and course choice as largely positive. You address both developments and support your view with relevant points about social contribution, career opportunities and economic benefits. The examples of studying artificial intelligence and working for international firms help make the second argument more concrete. This fits the descriptor because the main ideas are extended and supported. However, some claims are broad—for instance, that educated people are more likely to help the poor or avoid harming society—and the link between education and social problems is not fully explained. Develop these points with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation or a specific example to make the argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your view. The progression from social benefits to career and economic benefits is logical, and signposting such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument. Cohesive devices are used flexibly, although some links between ideas are abrupt or unclear. For example, “Therefore, knowledge develops a feeling of understanding between us” does not clearly show how the preceding point leads to this claim, and the following sentence shifts quickly to national social problems. Make these relationships explicit and use pronouns or linking phrases with clear references to strengthen the flow within paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including terms such as “higher education,” “academic specialisations,” “economic progress,” and “foreign remittance.” These choices allow you to discuss education, employment and national benefits, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal or less common wording, but some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “careers aspects,” “in significant number of countries,” and “bringing considerably amount of capital.” Spelling errors such as “remmitence” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check word forms: for example, use “career prospects,” “in a significant number of countries,” and “bringing in a considerable amount of capital.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because,” “as,” and “which,” and most sentences remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, but they rarely prevent the reader from following your ideas. Examples include “It teachs us,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “education plays crucial role,” which needs an article. There are also agreement and sentence-structure problems in “it improve individual's earning capabilities” and “Therefore, knowledge develops a feeling of understanding between us we become emotionally connected,” where two clauses are joined without suitable punctuation or a connector. Review subject–verb agreement, articles and clause boundaries, then proofread to make these structures more accurate.
