In many countries these days, the number of people continuing their education after school has increased, and the range of courses available at universities and colleges has also increased.

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant experience.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, in many countries, numerous individulas are pursuing higher education after completing their school. The universities and coleges are also offering a wide variety of courses. I strongly believe that this is a positive development, as it creates greater career opportunties and enables individulas to choose a subject of their interest.

Firstly, by acquiring higher education, people can gain the knowledge and skills necessory for professional success. Students can learn the expertise in the colleges and contribute to econmic growth because of their employment prospects improved in educational instituitions. As an illustration, students who study medicine, engineering or information technology can develop the skills needed to address the demands of modern society. Furthermore, the expansion of higher education allows the individulas to enhance their living standards by reducing social and economic equalities.

Secondly, a wider selection of courses provided by univerities or colleges have facilated students to select a program of their interest and to become an expert in relevant field. In the past, there was limited options of courses available for the learners and they somehow ended up by selecting an uninterested field. Meanwhile, at present, students have a lots of subjects to choose. For instance, a scholar can now gets admission in the various fiels such as artificial intelligence, creative arts etc. Consequently they may become more motivated to learn the subjects where their skills are most valuable.

In conclusion, it is my firm conviction that the growing participation in higher education and the increasing diversity of university courses is the positive growth. It will promote greater social benefits and equip individuals with the skills needed to succeed in an evolving job market.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you consider increased participation and course choice positive. Both aspects of the prompt are addressed, and the examples of medicine, engineering, IT and artificial intelligence help illustrate the benefits. The explanation of career prospects is relevant, but the link between education and economic growth is asserted rather than fully explained. The point about reducing “social and economic equalities” is also broad and would benefit from a specific mechanism or example. Your second body paragraph develops course choice more clearly, though the contrast with the past could be explained further. To strengthen the response, extend these less-developed claims with concrete examples and explain how each supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around separate benefits, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression explicit. Some connections between claims are less smooth: the move from professional skills to economic growth and then to living standards introduces several outcomes without showing their relationships. In the second paragraph, “Meanwhile” does not quite express the contrast intended between past and present. Use linking phrases that clarify the precise relationship between ideas, and add clearer references when moving from a general claim to its consequence. This would make cohesion less mechanical while preserving the effective paragraph structure.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “higher education,” “professional success,” “employment prospects,” and “modern society,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “individulas,” “necessory,” “econmic,” and “instituitions.” Some combinations are also unnatural or imprecise: “learn the expertise,” “social and economic equalities,” and “a scholar can now gets admission” do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. Repetition of “students,” “courses,” and “subjects” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, such as “acquire expertise” and “gain admission.” More precise vocabulary would help you express your otherwise relevant points with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a reason clause (“as it creates…”) and a relative clause (“where their skills are most valuable”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “a wider selection … have facilitated” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “there was limited options” needs agreement between the verb and plural noun. In “a scholar can now gets admission,” the verb form after “can” is incorrect; “can get” is needed. Articles and number also need attention in phrases such as “in relevant field” and “a lots of subjects.” Review agreement, modal verb patterns, and singular/plural forms, then proofread each sentence. Greater control of these patterns would make your varied sentence structures more accurate.
