Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider increased participation in higher education and wider course choice positive, and the conclusion reinforces this view. You address both developments and support your argument with relevant examples, including newer fields such as digital marketing and environmental science, as well as the benefits of independence and professional networks. The counterargument about debt and jobs that do not require degrees also shows awareness of a different perspective, and you respond to it. To strengthen the response further, develop some claims more specifically: for example, explain how financial support or vocational programmes would address the concerns raised, and qualify broad statements about degree-holders’ performance and earning potential with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear overall progression: the introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present benefits and a counterargument, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the argument. The main ideas are generally linked in a logical order. To make the cohesion more flexible and precise, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions and check that each sentence connects clearly to the one before it. For instance, “Which can significantly improves…” is a sentence fragment, so its link to the preceding claim is unclear. The contrast paragraph also needs a clearer connection between the concerns and your response to them.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including phrases such as “career goals,” “specialised skills,” “professional networks,” and “economic growth.” These choices help communicate the main points, and examples of course areas add useful specificity. However, attempts at less common or more precise wording are sometimes inaccurate, and spelling errors occur in words such as “varities,” “tarditioanl,” and “cources.” Some collocations and word forms also need attention: “a greater change to get a high earning potential” does not express the intended idea naturally. Proofread carefully and choose familiar, accurate phrasing where uncertain; greater control of spelling and collocation would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “While” and “that,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors, however, appear in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “universities and colleges have expand” needs a past participle, while “university help students” has a subject–verb agreement error. “Which can significantly improves…” is a fragment and also has an incorrect verb form; it should be joined to the previous sentence with a correctly formed verb. There are also missing or incorrect articles, as in “this is very positive development.” Review these patterns and edit each sentence for a complete clause and consistent agreement.
