In many countries these days, the number of people continuing their education after school has increased, and the range of courses available at universities and colleges has also increased.
Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's world the growing number students are continuously styling after finishing their school studies while on other side rapidly increasing students are choosing the courses which are newly from universities.I believe, this is a positive development that students have freedom to choose subjects that matches their interests and calibre rather then a long study of any specialised subject.
On one side, a rapidly growing number of students are continuously studying after completing school studies. The major reason is that a profession needs a higher university studies and a specialised knowledge. For example, if a student
study medicine can become Doctor, and if a student study engineering can become a project constructor. As a result, university study can be beneficial to adopt any profession in future.
On the other side, now universities are introducing some modern courses. The major perspective is that now students can choose their subjects according to their interests. For instance, now in this technological era, many students don't want to adopt or study the traditional subjects medicines, law, engineering any more, instead they want want to progress further in different field with skills like technology, graphic design, business. As a result, these courses provides them motivation to move forward in their field of interest.
In conclusion, universities and specialised study allow students to progress further in their profession, while specifically newly introduced courses allows them to adopt their own profession that keep focusing on their interests. I believe that these courses provide them great opportunity to adopt their future career more precisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you consider the growth in further study and course choice positive, and you address both developments. The examples linking medicine with becoming a doctor and engineering with a career illustrate why higher education can be useful; the discussion of technology, graphic design and business also supports your point about students following their interests. However, the first body paragraph mainly explains the value of university study rather than the increase in participation, and the benefits of broader course choice are asserted more than explored. The comparison with traditional subjects is also quite general. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how these trends benefit individuals or society and develop one example with a specific consequence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly separate the increase in further study from the expansion of course options, and signposts such as “For example,” “On the other side” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, the repeated “On one side” and “On the other side” framing suggests a contrast, although both paragraphs support your positive view. Some links are mechanical, and the conclusion largely repeats earlier points rather than drawing them together. Make the relationship between each topic sentence and your position more explicit, vary linking expressions, and use clearer references when moving from courses to their benefits.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of education and career vocabulary, including “specialised knowledge,” “traditional subjects,” “graphic design” and “field of interest.” These choices make the topic clear, and you attempt more specific language than basic terms such as “study” and “course.” However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions reduce precision, including “continuously styling,” “courses which are newly,” “project constructor” and “adopt a profession.” Repetition of “students,” “courses” and “interests” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn natural collocations for education and careers, and check word forms and spelling. More precise phrasing would make your ideas easier to understand without changing their meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “if” and “that,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “subjects that matches” should be “subjects that match,” “these courses provides” should be “these courses provide,” and “if a student study” needs “studies.” There are also awkward sentence constructions, such as the opening sentence, which makes the relationship between its ideas difficult to follow. Work on subject–verb agreement and build longer sentences around one clear main clause. Proofreading for repeated words and punctuation will also improve accuracy.
