Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you consider increased further study and course choice a positive development, and the conclusion restates this view. You address both aspects of the prompt, using the nurse’s return to study to explain personal and career benefits, and the international student example to suggest wider economic benefits. These are relevant illustrations, but the second point is less fully explained: the link between one student visiting and national economic growth is asserted rather than demonstrated. The nurse example also ends with the unclear outcome “navigate her way to oversee.” To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each example more precisely and develop the benefits of a wider range of courses, rather than relying mainly on access and travel.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “On the one hand” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. The examples are placed in relevant paragraphs, and the reader can follow the main positive argument. However, the first body paragraph begins with a general statement about lifelong learning before moving through several possible reasons and then into a long, difficult-to-follow nurse example. Some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “To illustrate” followed by a claim about economic growth that is not fully connected to the example. The conclusion also combines several points in one sentence. Use clearer topic sentences, divide complex explanations into shorter steps, and make each linking phrase show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to education and employment, including “continuous process,” “acquire more skills,” “promotion,” “management,” and “economic growth.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts at more specific language, such as “mental health nurses.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “promotion exercise,” “pursiut their goal,” “a diplomate nurse,” and “navigate her way to oversee” make parts of the examples difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “thier,” “futhermore,” and “imporved” also reduce accuracy. Build a reliable range by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, especially for describing qualifications, career advancement, and the effects of education.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “as it encourage many individuals” and a longer example explaining why a nurse returned to university. This shows some range, but control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “it encourage” and “this promote”; the nurse example shifts awkwardly between past forms, as in “returned back” and “she heard”; and articles and sentence boundaries are sometimes mishandled. For example, “There are various reasons why certain individuals return to college after graduation, this could be…” joins two independent clauses with a comma. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly after full stops. Practise accurate agreement, clause boundaries, and consistent past-tense narration while keeping complex sentences manageable.
