Student answer (Band 5.5)

In most parts of the world, the amount of individuals furthering their education after school has increased, and the number of courses available in college and Universities has increased. In this essay i will be explaining why this is a positive development.

In recent times, the number of uneducated people around the world is alarming as it may result to harm in the society. However, since there are lots of individuals around the world interested in furthering their education despite financial situation,it should be considered as a positive development.

Education is a basic human rights every person is obligated to have, and shouldn't be deprived of it despite their status in the society.Someone who lacks education could be of threat in the society, for instance;in a situation where there is no source of income to take care of needs or bills theft and robbery becomes the order of the day, where there is no public awareness peer pressure/influence takes effect. These are common things that puts a country or society in danger if precautions aren't taken. Therefore,it is of utmost responsibility everyone should endeavor to get good education and, parents should be able to send their kids to school. However, since education has become costly around the world it has an effect on those who wants to study and complete their education. Therefore,it should be made affordable for those who can't afford.

In conclusion, education should be a top priority in every parts of the world and, since tge range of people that have the zeal to further their education has increased it is a positive impact on both the society and their lives. If education isn't important the world wouldn't be as developed as it is now but, due to insights, motivations, creativity, researches, improvements, thinking, solving and understanding the world has developed and made easier to live in through science and technology which is a result of education.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly state your view in the introduction—“this is a positive development”—and return to it in the conclusion. Your discussion of education as a human right and its contribution to society is relevant, and the reference to science and technology begins to explain its wider benefits. However, the response addresses the question only partially: it focuses mainly on education’s general importance and the risks associated with lack of education, rather than explaining the benefits of more people continuing after school and of a wider range of courses. The claims about theft and robbery are broad and not clearly linked to university access. Develop specific examples, such as how varied courses meet labour-market needs or help students pursue different careers, to make the argument more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, a main discussion and a conclusion, and the reader can follow the overall positive position. Some linking expressions, including “However,” “Therefore” and “In conclusion,” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within the main paragraph is difficult to follow: it moves from education as a right to crime, parental responsibility, affordability and then back to the effects of education. Several sentences are very long, with multiple ideas joined together, so the connections between claims are not always clear. The conclusion also introduces a long list of benefits rather than synthesising the main points. Use separate paragraphs for distinct reasons, and make each paragraph develop one central idea with clear links between its supporting example and the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, such as “furthering their education,” “financial situation,” “public awareness,” “affordable,” and “science and technology.” These choices show an attempt to discuss education and its social effects. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the intended meaning less precise. For example, “result to harm” and “the order of the day” do not fit naturally in their contexts, while “the zeal to further their education” is an imprecise way to describe increased participation. The conclusion’s list—“insights, motivations, creativity, researches, improvements”—also relies on broad terms rather than precise explanation. Aim for accurate collocations and vocabulary directly related to access, course choice, skills and employment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “since” and “where,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often poorly controlled, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “Education is a basic human rights,” “things that puts a country,” and “every parts of the world.” Several sentences run together, particularly the sentence beginning “Someone who lacks education,” where multiple claims are joined without clear punctuation. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and apostrophe use. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and punctuation.
