Student answer (Band 5.5)

No\ a days in most of the countries, number of individuals continuing their study after school has been increased and along with that the the range and number of courses also increased, which i think is a great positive development in education sector.

Increasing the range of courses available at universities and colleges is a a major positive change in the education sector. More courses means more choices every person can have. Sometimes people just leave their study beacuse they could'nt find the suitable course to their interest. But now with greater range everyone can find their course of interest. For example previously, some major course are only available at the universities like doctor, engineer or business courses, that why not everyone want to be a professional in these few courses.

According to my opinion and experience, when it was my turn to decide what course should I choose, I was very confused but i was good in maths so I choose engineering. But some of my freinds had very different interests other thsn these major courses and they found very diificult to find a course of their interest like, fashion desighning and music industry. we can achieve any thing but if we could'nt find according to what we want it becomes very difficult.

In conclusion, increasing range of courses is a positive development which will improve literacy and education sector in our country. And with this step more people will ge their desired courses and buid a career in their field of interest.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly take a positive position and give relevant reasons: a wider choice can help students find courses that match their interests, and you illustrate this with engineering, fashion design and music. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because the benefits are asserted more than explained; for instance, the claim that more courses will “improve literacy” is not supported. The discussion also focuses mainly on course choice, with little development of the increase in people continuing education after school. The conclusion restates your view but adds little. The response is 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the prompt are excluded from the count. Develop both aspects of the topic and explain the consequences of your examples more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main idea in each body paragraph is generally identifiable, and phrases such as “For example” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is limited because the second body paragraph repeats the point about finding a suitable course rather than adding a clearly distinct reason. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “that why not everyone want to be a professional in these few courses.” The conclusion also begins with “And,” making the connection to the preceding sentence less controlled. Organise each paragraph around a distinct point, use pronouns and linking phrases precisely, and make the relationship between examples and claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the central argument, including “range of courses,” “course of interest,” “professional” and “career.” The examples of engineering, fashion design and the music industry also make the discussion specific. However, the vocabulary range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, such as “freinds,” “diificult,” “desighning” and “ge their desired courses.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “leave their study” and “find the suitable course to their interest.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main point, but they make the writing less fluent. Learn common academic collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “give up their studies” and “find a course that matches their interests.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “Sometimes people just leave their study because…” and the example introduced by “For example.” However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often contain errors. Examples include “number of individuals … has been increased,” “More courses means,” and “I choose engineering,” where verb forms or agreement are inaccurate. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “a a major positive change” repeats an article, while the long sentence beginning “But some of my friends…” is difficult to follow and needs clearer punctuation. These recurring errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the relationships between ideas. Practise accurate past and present forms, subject–verb agreement, and breaking long sentences into controlled clauses.
