Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's decade, many countries focus on building new institutions. At the present time, mostly students do study because there is majority of primary schools are available .They also pursue their higher studies in secondary schools and universities because there is a wide variety of subjects are available. From my perspective, it is a positive development.

On the one hand, individuals become focus on their studies and get admission on different schools. Therefore, they have alternative options of educational institution in which they conveniently pursue their education . For instance, few years ago in Sialkot there was less number of schools but now there are many different private and government institutions are made. Moreover it is now convinent for the children to continue their education.

On the other hand, there are number of colleges and universities are there in which there are a wide range of courses available. For example, in the past there was less courses just medical, engineering and law courses available but in this era there are so many courses like IT , fashion designing , computer science cousrses, free lancing and many more options are available .There are also some new courses like web development software designing and many AI courdes. Now youngsters can easily take admission in their favourite field and continue their education. After that they can get their dream jobs just because of the availability of new subjects in the universities.

In conclusion, this is a positive development

and people can focus on their education by continuing their education as well as, they have the facility to choose new courses of their own choice. So, it was a beneficial development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you consider the growth in further education and course choice to be positive, and you address both the expansion of institutions and the wider range of subjects. The examples of Sialkot and newer fields such as IT and web development are relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, you say that more institutions make education “convenient,” but do not clarify how access improves or who benefits most. The claim that new subjects help young people obtain their “dream jobs” also needs a more specific explanation or example. Develop these links between course availability, skills and employment to make your support more convincing and balanced.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting related benefits, and a conclusion that restates your view. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, the two body paragraphs overlap in their focus on educational choice, and the progression within them is sometimes unclear. For example, the first paragraph moves from admission to alternative institutions and then to the Sialkot example without clearly explaining the relationship between these points. Some transitions and references feel mechanical or imprecise. Group each paragraph around one distinct benefit and use clearer links to show how each example supports its main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “higher studies,” “wide range of courses,” “institutions,” and examples of newer fields. This gives you enough language to communicate your main ideas. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “get admission on different schools,” “less courses,” and “new courses like web development software designing.” Spelling errors, including “convinent,” “cousrses,” and “courdes,” also reduce precision. Aim to use more natural academic phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, describe students as enrolling in institutions, refer to fewer courses, and distinguish clearly between course names and fields of study.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the reader can generally understand your position and examples. However, errors in sentence structure and agreement occur across the response. For example, “there is majority of primary schools are available” combines incompatible structures, while “there are number of colleges and universities are there” repeats the verb pattern. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “less number of schools” and “less courses.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together after full stops. Practise building accurate clauses with one clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries before submitting.
