Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly take a positive position, stating that higher education benefits society, employment, industry and living standards. The response also attempts to support this view with examples involving China and the United States. However, the discussion is only partially developed: the claims that education reduces poverty and crime, and that it improves a country’s currency or trade, are asserted rather than explained or supported with precise examples. The prompt also highlights the increased range of courses, but your response focuses mainly on the benefits of higher education generally and does not explain whether having more course options is positive. To strengthen the response, address both trends directly and develop fewer points with clear reasoning and relevant evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the opening gives your position, the next sections discuss employment and industry, and the conclusion restates your view. This gives the reader a basic sense of the response’s direction. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because several claims are joined together without clear relationships. For example, the discussion moves from employment in China to personal expenditure and then to educating others, while the industry paragraph shifts from workplace quality to imports, exports and currency. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “For example” are attempted, but they do not always clarify how the ideas connect. Use one main point per paragraph, explain it in a logical sequence, and make references between sentences explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “higher studies,” “employment,” “industries,” “poverty,” and “import and export business.” These choices show an effort to discuss social and economic effects. However, the range is limited and many spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make the meaning difficult to understand, as in “foriegens,” “propective,” “ruputatipon,” and “currency ratio.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “good for the government level” and “the sence of living.” These problems sometimes require the reader to infer your intended meaning. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling, word forms, and collocations; prefer clear expressions such as “employment opportunities” and “living standards” over uncertain or translated-sounding phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You make attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, using forms such as “when” and “because,” and you include some simple statements that communicate your general position. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent problems with sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms can make the argument hard to follow. For instance, “when the employers are more educated they can do there work” lacks clear punctuation and has an unclear reference, while “the higher studies gives” has a subject–verb agreement error. Several sentences run on across multiple claims, especially in the opening and industry paragraph. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine related ideas with one controlled subordinate clause and use full stops to separate distinct points.
