Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a relevant position: the conclusion says the benefits of continuing education are greater, and the body considers both advantages and disadvantages. The points about knowledge, employment, costs and delayed work are appropriate, but several are only briefly stated. For example, the claim that university helps students become “independent and confident” is not explained, and the examples of medicine, engineering and law are listed rather than linked to a specific benefit. The opening also introduces unclear claims about the situation being “very easy” or “difficult in society,” which do not clearly answer the question. The response is 34 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to develop and support the argument. Extend the explanation and give a relevant example for each main point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “Furthermore,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion.” However, some links are mechanical or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas; for instance, “A key argument” is followed by an incomplete sentence, and “as a result” is used without a clear preceding cause in places. The opening’s references to what “some people” and “other people” think are difficult to connect to the essay’s position. Use complete topic sentences, connect each example explicitly to its point, and make pronoun references and transitions clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “higher education,” “useful skills,” “practical work experience,” and “career opportunities.” These phrases help communicate the main ideas, and there is some attempt to use a range of terms. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are frequent enough to distract the reader: examples include “nevative,” “batter,” “studr,” “engeerning,” and “poersonal.” Some expressions are also unclear or unnatural, such as “this situation is very easy” and “become the wrong dependent on their parents.” Aim to learn accurate spelling of common academic words and use natural collocations, such as “afford tuition fees” and “gain practical experience.” Proofreading and checking unfamiliar phrases would make your meaning more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some complex structures, including “although continuing education after school has some disadvantages” and a sentence beginning “so,” to explain consequences. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but the range is limited and many sentences contain errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles or punctuation. For example, “It is often argue” needs a passive verb form, while “higher education has several advantages it help students” joins two clauses without correct punctuation and has an agreement error. Capitalisation is also inconsistent, as in “some” after a full stop and “i” throughout. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with conjunctions. Check verb forms, subject–verb agreement, sentence boundaries and capital letters during revision.
