The pie charts below show responses by teachers of foreign languages in Britain to a survey concerning why their students are learning a foreign language. The first chart shows the main reason for learning a foreign language. The second chart shows how many teachers felt that there has been a recent change in the reason.

The given pie chart illustrates the information about the responses by teachers of foreign languages in Britain to a survey concerning why their students are learning a foreign language. The first pie chart clearly shows few main reasons to learn a foreign language. The reasons are personal development, foreign partner, social contacts, general interest, buying properties overseas, business or work and travel. Out of all the major reasons, a wide range of population is found under travel with 33 percent. The minimum population is found under foreign partner with 3 percent. The excluded population apart from maximum and minimum is widely distributed under the other reasons. Both social contacts and personal development remains the same with 7 percent of the population.

Considering the second chart, which shows the recent increase in the number of people showing interest to learn a foreign language. Similar to the first graph, the major reasons remains the same. However, the percentage of the population has notably increased. As per the second pie chart, the maximum range of population has shown interest to learn a foreign language due to buying property overseas with 34 percent. There is a rapid increase in the percentage of people who shows interest to learn due to business or work compared to the previous chart. A sharp decline in travel is evident in the recent pie chart than that to the older chart.
