Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The report covers the main features of the charts and provides a clear overview. You have successfully identified the key data points, such as the leading reasons for learning a language and the reported changes. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting; for example, you state that 'travel shows smallest figure' in the first chart, but the data indicates 'foreign partners' is the lowest at 3%. Additionally, the description of the second chart is slightly confusing in its phrasing. To improve, ensure you double-check the data against the visual prompts and use more precise language when comparing figures to ensure all parts of the task are fully and accurately addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'whereas', and 'according to' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and some mechanical errors in sentence structure, such as 'business took take up at 26%'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two charts. To reach a higher band, focus on improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the transition between sentences is smoother and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounting for', 'maintaining the same levels', and 'constant'. However, there are several spelling errors ('desent', 'foregin', 'partnes', 'shoes') and some word choice issues, such as 'freshersh' (likely meaning students) and 'no chang for motivation'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more academic vocabulary and proofreading for spelling accuracy to ensure your writing appears more professional and polished.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement, such as 'The two pie charts companies the result' and 'teacher noticed the reason... were stay constant'. Some sentences are structurally incomplete or awkward, which affects the overall clarity. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent throughout the report.
