Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is inconsistent and contains factual inaccuracies. For instance, you state that 'over a third' of students learn for travel, but the data indicates 'travel' is 35%. You also mention 'business and work' at 26%, which is accurate, but the description of the second chart is confusing. You claim a '15% less' figure for property, but the data provided in the prompt is not fully utilized or interpreted correctly. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe the percentages and provide a clearer comparison between the two charts. The overview is present but lacks clarity regarding the overall trends.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. Phrases like 'From the first chart it is infred' and 'While, around a fifths proportion' disrupt the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the two charts could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'buy properties in abroad' (should be 'buy property abroad') and 'infred' (spelling error for 'inferred'). The phrase 'a fifths proportion' is also grammatically incorrect. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band. Focus on learning correct collocations and avoiding basic spelling mistakes to improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('a travel', 'a business'), incorrect pluralization ('student's reason' instead of 'students' reasons'), and awkward sentence structures. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often marred by errors, such as 'Majority of students study...'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and proofreading for basic sentence structure errors.
