Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both charts, but the analysis is significantly hampered by inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you state that 'travel' was the most common reason at 34%, which is accurate, but your description of the second chart is confusing. You claim 'buying property overseas' increased to 34%, yet the data provided in the prompt does not support these specific figures as a clear trend. Furthermore, the report lacks a clear overview of the main trends. The summary provided is disjointed and fails to synthesize the information effectively. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe data points and focus on identifying the most significant trends rather than listing every percentage point.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In contrast', they are often used incorrectly or to link unrelated ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the data and the trends is difficult to follow. The sentences within paragraphs do not always flow logically, making the overall structure feel mechanical. To improve, focus on using transition words that accurately reflect the relationship between ideas, such as 'whereas' for contrast or 'consequently' for results, and ensure each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'most common reason' and 'remained the same' multiple times. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'main cause for learning a native language' (the prompt refers to foreign languages) and 'the declined slowly'. Some terms are used inaccurately, which occasionally obscures the meaning of your sentences. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate a wider range of synonyms and more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'teacher reported' instead of 'teachers reported' and 'personal development and foreign partner were remained'. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'no change was introduced people learning reason'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of periods and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
