Student answer (Band 6.0)

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by describing the two pie charts. You have successfully identified the main trends and provided supporting data. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions some trends, it could be more analytical by highlighting the most significant differences between the two charts. For example, you note that 'travel' is the main reason in the first chart, but you could have more clearly contrasted this with the second chart where 'buying property' shows the highest change. The report is accurate in its data selection, but the presentation of the data could be more precise to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Turning to', which help the flow. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'foreign partner reason is less reliable' in the second paragraph, which does not clearly relate to the data. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'substantial', 'accounts for', and 'insignificant percentage'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'foreign partner reason is less reliable' and 'The highest changes are experienced to buying property'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your report. To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are contextually appropriate for a formal report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('travel make up', 'The second most changes are showed') and awkward phrasing ('The information about the responses...'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb forms and sentence construction, and aim for more complex, error-free sentences.
