Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers both charts, but the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview. While you identified key figures, the description of the second chart is confusing. For instance, stating 'buying property overseas is increase 16% overall' is unclear; it is not evident whether this refers to a percentage point change or a relative increase. Furthermore, the report lacks a cohesive summary of the main trends. To reach a higher band, you must provide a clear 'overview' paragraph that highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing data points. Ensure that comparisons are accurate and clearly linked to the data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'that the overall report some changes are seen recent pie charts' at the end, which does not function as a proper concluding sentence. Referencing is also weak; for example, 'second chart shows how many changes in recent pie chart' is repetitive and unclear. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'consequently') and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'the highest dropped down i seen is travel' and 'get decrease by 7%'. These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. You should aim to use more precise verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' will help demonstrate a better command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('pie charts is 7%'), missing articles ('in Whole learning Foreign language'), and incorrect sentence structures ('we can see there are two pie charts are given'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and article usage. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, would also be beneficial.
