Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is inconsistent. While you identify the highest percentages, the reporting of data is sometimes inaccurate or confusing. For instance, you state that 'buying property overseas and business/work are covering almost half of percent', but the data provided in the text for the first chart (19% and 25%) does not clearly support this as a combined trend. Additionally, the description of the second chart is somewhat muddled, particularly when listing percentages that do not clearly align with the categories provided. To improve, ensure you clearly distinguish between the two charts and provide a more precise summary of the key trends rather than listing individual figures without sufficient comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. For example, the transition 'In recent reason' is awkward and does not clearly signal a shift to the second chart. Furthermore, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you list percentages without explicitly linking them to the correct category in the second paragraph. The flow between sentences is often disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel somewhat repetitive. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Furthermore', 'Conversely') would help improve the logical flow of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'seem less' or 'has a bit increase'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'half of percent' instead of 'half of the total' or '50%'. Additionally, there are some errors in terminology, such as 'social contract' instead of 'social contacts'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline', rather than relying on simple verbs like 'go' or 'has'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Foreign partner seem less'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in the opening sentence. The use of 'respectively' is attempted, but the preceding lists are often unclear or grammatically incomplete. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring correct verb forms will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
